Breaking
the Habit
A habit can be defined as
any act performed unconsciously on a regular basis, which has been acquired
over time through repetition.
Don't you think it time, that
you started thinking of breaking the habit, whatever it might
be.
A few methods specified when breaking the
habit include:
1) The use of the symptom itself, by using one or more of the following
suggestions.
a - focusing on the symptom
b - exaggerating the symptom
c - de-emphasizing the symptom
d - shifting to another symptom, and
e - re-labeling the symptom.
2) The use of direct
hypnotic suggestion, to either eliminate the symptom, or substitute
it.
3) The use of ideomotor
signals to learn whether there is a true unconscious desire, and
or willingness to give up the habit.
